While attending Jr. high I volunteered at the local animal shelter but
was let go for political reasons.
During High school I was both founder and president of a club based on
canine adoration. The club, called "Puppy Lovers" was not actually
affiliated with school and our secret meetings were always held in my yard,
which made it hard to get new members. However, through the hard
work of both the club secretary (my mother) and myself, the club grew to
5 members over the course of 4 years.
I worked part time at Dogs and Stuff as a cage cleaner to earn my
college tuition and certainly learned how to keep a kennel clean!
My most recent work related experience has been acquired at the zoo at
which I am a season pass holder. I technically am not on staff and
don't work with any of the other employees directly but I do take care
of several animals. I have been experimenting with the diets of several
of the large caged cats and noticed that they all prefer candy tossed into
their cages over vegetables, cooked or not! I have also been
analyzing the effects of different common chemicals on various reptiles
with mixed results.
